Hong Kong, US Watchdogs Sign Cross-Border Regulation Agreement

The deal covers exchanges and other trading venues, market intermediaries, investment funds or companies, clearing agencies and credit rating agencies.
Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission has signed an agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission fostering cross-border regulation between the city-state and the US.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two financial watchdogs will exchange information related to the supervision and oversight of regulated institutions that operate on a cross-border basis in Hong Kong and the US, the SFC said in a statement.
The deal covers exchanges and other trading venues, market intermediaries, investment funds or companies, clearing agencies and credit rating agencies.
“Through the MoU, the SFC and the SEC express their willingness to cooperate with each other in the interest of fulfilling their respective regulatory mandates,” the SFC said.
