HighTower Recruits From Envestnet In Leadership Expansion

So far this year, HighTower has announced four new transitions bringing approximately $1.575 billion in client assets to the firm.

Chris Curtis, formerly a senior vice president and treasurer at Envestnet, has joined HighTower as executive vice president of finance and accounting, based at the firm's Chicago, IL, headquarters.

Curtis will focus exclusively on managing the day-to-day operations of the financial and accounting department, enabling Robert Pagliuco, HighTower’s current EVP of accounting and finance, to assume the new role of EVP of corporate finance.

Pagliuco will focus on the financial analysis and due diligence activities related to bringing in new advisor teams (see a related interview with the firm's CEO, Elliot Weissbluth, here).

Both he and Curtis will report to HighTower’s chief financial officer, Larry Koehler, who has been the company’s CFO since its inception in 2007.

In his previous role at Envestnet, Curtis had responsibilities including forecasting and planning, due diligence for potential acquisitions, management of private equity financing processes, and preparation and execution of Envestnet’s 2010 initial public offering and subsequent capital raising events.

Envestnet, a provider of integrated platform technology, is one of HighTower’s longest-standing investors. The two firms maintain a growing strategic business relationship, including the recent integration of Envestnet | Retirement Solutions into HighTower’s leading technology platform, HighTower said.

Earlier this year, HighTower increased a revolving credit facility obtained from BMO Harris Bank, PNC Bank and SunTrust Bank from $100 million to $150 million.

More recently, last week the firm established its 13th West Coast practice with the addition of The Bahnsen Group in California.
