HSBC Private Bank Makes Two Senior Hires From UBS

HSBC Private Bank has bolstered its Indian private banking business with two senior hires from UBS.

The first addition to HSBC Private Bank’s global south Asian diaspora team is Jafar Hamid, who joins as managing director, key accounts, and will be based in London.

Mr Hamid previously headed the key accounts desk in UBS’s south Asian team; prior to UBS he worked with ultra high net worth south Asian clients with Citigroup Private Bank and Credit Suisse, working in both London and Singapore.

Also joining HSBC from UBS is Basit Riaz, who worked alongside Mr Hamid as an associate on the Swiss bank’s key accounts desk.     

“We are determined to cement our leading proposition to the global south Asian community. Jafar’s appointment is the latest in a series of significant hires and our GSAD team now comprises more than 110 client facing staff across nine geographical locations,” said Raj Parmar, the global head of the GSAD team.

HSBC Private Bank’s GSAD team has regional offices in India, North America, the UK, Switzerland, the Channel Islands, Dubai, Luxembourg, South Africa, Singapore and Hong Kong.
