HSBC Private Bank Brings In Media, Entertainment Specialist

HSBC Private Bank has brought in Katharine Brace as associate director on its media and entertainment team.
In her new role Brace will be responsible for developing a portfolio of clients in the media and entertainment sectors. She joins the firm from Barclays Wealth, where she was a vice president in the sports, media and entertainment team.
Based in London, she reports to Nick Price, managing director and global head of the media and entertainment group at HSBC.
“Her understanding of the industry will allow us to deepen existing, and establish new client relationships throughout the 95 locations in which the private bank operates around the world,” said Price.
HSBC formed its media and entertainment team in 1999, offering investment, banking and credit services to private clients and their businesses within these industries. It specializes in relevant areas such as liquidity against intangible assets or copyrights, tour finance, theatre and fashion.
The financial and lifestyle challenges faced by sports and entertainment professionals mean that, as well as some of the large firms creating dedicated divisions, small firms have sprung up catering specifically to these markets.
Most recently, Duff McKagan, the former bassist of rock legends Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, set up his own wealth management firm with musicians as the target market.
