HSBC Private Bank Adds To Africa Team With Ex-Barclays Wealth Manager

HSBC Private Bank has added to its Africa-focused team with the appointment of Fiona Sheerin, formerly of Barclays Wealth, highlighting how wealth management firms are increasingly concentrating on the continent’s market.
Sheerin, who took up the post today, is based in London and reports to John Lee, director for West Africa, and will be focusing primarily on Nigeria and Ghana.
At Barclays Wealth, she was assistant vice president, private banker focusing on the African market. Prior to Barclays Wealth, Sheerin worked at HSBC International Wealth Management in Johannesburg as a wealth manager.
“Africa is already a very significant business for the private bank and we see huge potential in connecting our clients to the group’s global capabilities. With this hire we continue to build our bench strength in this rapidly growing market,” said Roger Johnson, managing director and head of Sub-Saharan Africa for HSBC Private Bank.
