GSC Partners appoints new sales executives

Funding efforts complement alts manager’s recent product-side build-out. Alternatives manager GSC Partners has hired William Crist and Joshua Kane as managing directors in its investment-placement group with responsibility for developing fundraising and investor-outreach strategies.

Crist will work out of GSC’s Los Angeles office; Kane will be based in the firm’s Florham Park, N.J. headquarters.

“We plan to leverage the skills and relationships [Bill and Josh] have developed over their careers to broaden and deepen our commitment to investors,” says GSC senior managing director and CFO Andrew Wagner.

Crist comes to GSC from Oaktree Capital Management, where he headed marketing for the New York-based wealth manager’s family-office and high-wealth units. Before that he was with Legg Mason, where he private-client portfolio manager. Prior to that he headed“internal investment advisory ” for private clients of Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown, according to a GSC press release.

Kane’s background is more institutional. He joins GSC from Morgan Stanley’s institutional equities division, where he was an executive director of international equity sales.

Crist and Kane bring the number of managing directors in GSC’s investment placement group to six. “Expanding the group, which began as an important milestone in the ongoing development of GSC, is a reflection of the dynamic growth of the firm,” says Wagner.

GSC says it has around $10.7 billion in assets under management. In addition to its Los Angeles branch and Florham Park headquarters, firm has offices in New York and London. –FWR
