Former Credit Suisse Banker Sets Up New Delhi Investment Bank

A former banking executive at Credit Suisse is setting up a new India-based investment banking entity that targets high net worth individuals and global institutional clients.
Vikram Gandhi was previously the vice chairman of investment banking and global head of Credit Suisse's financial institutions group. His new firm, VSG Capital Advisors, will specialise in domestic and cross-border deals for HNW individuals and global investors looking to increase their portfolio allocation in India.
Before Gandhi worked for Credit Suisse, he held various key roles at Morgan Stanley, including head of the FIG, global head of institutional strategy and country head in India.
With the new company, more investors will get the chance to invest in the fast-growing country, particularly in areas of infrastructure, real estate and other private sector projects, directly through partnerships with boutique investment banks and global funds. Generally, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds invest in India through local private equity outfits.
VSG Capital Advisors will be headquartered in New Delhi, with operations in New York, London and Hong Kong.
