FirstMerit appoints new head of wealth management

Former Mellon and PNC executive joins local bank's private-client division. Akron, Ohio-based FirstMerit has named Kenneth Dorsett, previously with Mellon's Private Wealth Management group, head of its wealth-management services segment.

Reputation

"Ken's outstanding experience and leadership augments our solid banking professionals on the Wealth Management team," says Paul Greig, chairman and CEO for FirstMerit. "Under Ken's guidance we look forward to continued growth from this business segment."

Before he was with Mellon (now part of Bank of New York Mellon), Dorsett was national sales manager for private banking at PNC Bank. He has also been president and CEO of management consultancy Everest Advisors and a principal with the CPA firm Heffler, Radetich and Saitta, both based in Pittsburgh.

Dorsett says that FirstMerit, which has about 160 branches in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania, has "a great reputation" as a wealth manager. "I look forward to working with this dedicated and knowledgeable group of people to better serve our customers," he adds.-FWR
