First Republic taps San Diego relationship manager

Former First Federal real-estate lender moves to Merrill-owned private bank. First Republic Bank has hired former First Federal Bank of California executive John Cunningham as a relationship manager in its San Diego office.

Growing needs

"John Cunningham is a very successful real-estate lender and private banker with a reputation for delivering exceptional client service," says First Republic's president and COO Katherine August-deWilde. "John's experience and expertise will enable First Republic to enhance its ability to meet the growing needs of clients in the San Diego region."

Cunningham was with Santa Monica, Calif.-based First Federal for five years as v.p. of income-property lending in San Diego. Earlier he was with World Savings and Loan (now part of Wachovia).

In his new role at First Republic, Cunningham will provide private-banking, business banking, investment-banking and trust services and real-estate financing to high-net-worth clients.

San Francisco-based First Republic provides private- and commercial-banking, investments, brokerage and wealth-management services. It is a division of Merrill Lynch. -FWR
