First Republic Bank has hired Basant Kedia from HSBC as a senior relationship manager in Palo Alto, California.

Kedia comes from a background of working with venture capital clients, for which the bank has just opened a dedicated office in Menlo Park, California. Its second in Menlo Park, the new office provides specialized services to venture capital and private equity firms, working with a number of the bank’s other offices.

Kedia was at HSBC Bank for six years, latterly as a vice president at the Hong Kong-and London-listed banking group. Prior to that, he worked for the US Small Business Administration and the private equity firm Growth Capital Partners.

First Republic provides wealth management services from offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Newport Beach, San Diego, Portland, Boston, Greenwich and New York City.
