EXCLUSIVE: Wealth Management House Names Asia COO

This publication can exclusively report on a top-level hire for the Asian wealth management sector.
This publication can exclusively report that RBC Wealth Management in Asia has appointed Terence Chow as chief operating officer, taking up the post at the start of February next year.
The post is a reconfigured one rather than a direct replacement for a predecessor, this publication understands.
“Terence brings over 18 years’ experience to this role, where he will be responsible for driving operational effectiveness as we continue to leverage our global capabilities to meet the evolving needs of our clients in Asia. In his current role, as vice president, head of Canada & Asia operations, Terence has been responsible for the overall leadership of our operations businesses in Canada and Asia. He will be relocating to Singapore from Toronto in due course,” a spokesperson for RBC said in a statement.
A replacement for Chow will be announced in due course.
In his new position, Chow reports to Peter Corry, head of Wealth Management Asia.
The role means Chow oversees wealth management operations in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, and will lead teams responsible for wealth management strategy, operational governance and advisory, and trust administration in Asia.
The following individuals report to Chow: Chen Yang, head of business strategy; Hwee Leng Tay, head of business operational governance and advisory; Noreen Devine, head of WM Operations, Singapore and Hong Kong, and Ben Willis, head of trust administration.
To better align business development and wealth planning, Vivian Kiang, head of wealth planning, will report to Mike Reed, head of wealth management, Southeast Asia and CEO of the Singapore Branch.
Prior to joining RBC Wealth Management, Chow was director of strategy and execution for RBC Capital Markets Operations.
