Digital Digest: The Latest Tech News - PwC

The latest news about technology products and services relevant for wealth managers around the world.

PricewaterhouseCoopers in Hong Kong has rolled out three new cybersecurity services so that organisations can keep a step ahead of cyber attackers – a big issue for wealth managers.

The three newly-launched services are Connected Shield, Project Hacking Robot, and Cyber as a Service (CaaS). The offerings will use robotic process automation, big data and cloud computing to help companies monitor and develop how they manage risks.

Connect Shield is targeted at small- and medium-sized enterprises. PwC’s Cyber as a Service (CaaS) delivers solutions from active monitoring of information security in IT infrastructure and networks to risk assessment and threat mitigation. Project Hacking Robot is a fully automated tool designed to test and check how vulnerable organisations are.

“Given the cybersecurity workforce gap in Hong Kong, PwC has embraced emerging technologies in our cybersecurity services while also grooming local talent”, Kok Tin Gan, said.

The firm said that over the past year, its cyber investigations have surged nearly tenfold from five years ago, rising to nearly 40 incidents per year, with many of the attacks targeting SMEs that are particularly vulnerable to cybercrimes due to insufficient defence and incident response capabilities. It says larger corporations are more aware of the dangers.
