Deutsche Bank Trumpets Arts Support With NYC Program

The bank has supported the Frieze New York arts program for eight years in a row.

Deutsche Bank has notched up the eighth straight year of being lead partner of the Frieze New York arts program in New York, underlining how banks and wealth managers support these fields.

The bank helped to present works on paper by Nigerian-born, Philadelphia- and New York-based artist ruby onyinyechi amanze in the Deutsche Bank Wealth Management Lounge (the artist spells the name in lower-case letters).

“Our support of Frieze New York underlines our continued commitment to the US and to the arts and their positive impact – something that we believe reaches far beyond the walls of the fair,” Fabrizio Campelli, Global Head of Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, said.

The exhibition was held on Randall’s Island Park from May 2-5.

Deutsche’s support for the program fits with the approach of several banking groups that see fine art and associated areas as ways to connect with clients and build a brand within high net worth and ultra-HNW population groups. A number of advisors work in the art investment and collections space. Groups such as Citi Private Bank, to take another example, advise clients on art, as does UBS (which recently produced its annual report on the art auction market with Art Basel). In the US, Family Wealth Report earlier this year honoured Ron Varney Fine Art Advisors for its work in the space. FWR also recently profiled a digital art auction and market business here.)

“Support of Frieze NY underscores Deutsche Bank’s 40 year commitment to encouraging new and noteworthy talents in art and culture from across the globe,” Thorsten Strauss, global head of Deutsche Bank’s Art, Culture & Sports department, said.

The lender’s support of Frieze also includes Frieze London, Frieze Masters and the recently held inaugural edition of Frieze Los Angeles.
