Deutsche Bank IPB Bolsters North Asia Business

The bank continues with a series of hires in the Asia region, with the latest senior appointments involving people who have worked at Credit Suisse and BNP Paribas.

Deutsche Bank has appointed Kevin King and Stella Lau as managing directors and market heads of North Asia Wealth Management.

Based in Hong Kong and Singapore respectively, King will join Deutsche Bank’s International Private Bank in March, while Lau will join in April. Both will report to Kanas Chan (pictured), head of IPB North Asia, the firm said in a statement yesterday.

King and Lau will focus on providing North Asia entrepreneurs and their families with IPB’s wealth management solutions, and support clients’ business through IPB’s one-bank collaboration.

Chan said: “With deep market knowledge and strong connections across various business communities within the region, Kevin and Stella are well positioned to accelerate our growth ambitions in North Asia.”

Head of IPB APAC Jinyee Young added: “Asia Pacific is a growing region. To leverage the opportunities and best meet our clients’ evolving needs, we will continue to hire the best talent in the industry as we take our business to the next level.”

King will be joining Deutsche Bank from BNP Paribas where he has been the head of the China market. Prior to that, he was the global market manager of the China team at Citi Private Bank. He has also worked for Bank Sarasin, UBS and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the firm continued.

Lau will be joining from Credit Suisse in Singapore where she was market leader for China. She began her wealth management career at Citibank and has served in China market lead roles also with JPMorgan, UBS and Standard Chartered.

The hires follow a series of appointments made by the bank in Asia. Last week, it appointed Serene Wee as managing director and senior client partner in Southeast Asia Wealth Management and last month, it appointed Johanes Oeni – also ex-Credit Suisse – as head of the international private bank, Southeast Asia. In addition, Esther Wong joined in January as an MD and market head in Southeast Asia – see here.
