Cresset Hires Former Blackstone Senior Figure As Chief Market Strategist

The appointee will shape the multi-family office's macro and asset allocation views and advise its institutional clients.
Cresset, a multi-family office, has appointed Joe Zidle as executive managing director and chief market strategist.
Zidle will work with Cresset's investment and advisory teams on the firm's views across macroeconomics, asset allocation and public and private markets. He will also advise the firm's institutional clients, including foundations and endowments, it said in a statement yesterday.
He is joining from Zidle Macro Strategy Group, his eponymous and independent research and investment strategy firm he founded after leaving Blackstone. At Blackstone Private Wealth, he was senior managing director and chief investment strategist for nearly eight years.
Before Blackstone, Zidle was a portfolio strategist at Richard Bernstein Advisors, where he covered portfolio strategy, asset allocation and relationships with large wealth management firms and independent RIAs. Earlier, he spent nearly a decade at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where his roles included head of investment strategy for global wealth management and deputy director of the research investment committee.
Cresset was founded in Chicago in 2017 by Eric Becker and Avy Stein. The firm reports $88 billion in assets under management and about $176 billion in assets under advisement across Cresset Asset Management.
In other moves, Susie Cranston was named chief executive in March, succeeding the co-founders, who moved to executive co-chair roles. The same month, Cresset appointed Mark Thompson as executive managing director, institutional consulting, with a seat on its management committee.
