Coutts Hires Another Barclays Wealth Director For Private Office

The UK private bank Coutts & Co has added another Barclays Wealth director to its UHNW business, with the hire of James Biggart.
Biggart, who will be joining Coutts Private Office as a senior client partner in the near future, is the second appointment from Barclays Wealth to emerge this week. On Wednesday, it was announced that Maeve Colley-Russell, also latterly of Barclays Wealth, has been appointed as a senior client partner at Coutts’ UHNW division.
Biggart, who joined Barclays in 2001, was also formerly a lawyer at Freshfield, and specialises in investment in fine art.
As well as these latest appointments, last year Coutts made senior hires for the business from both Credit Suisse and HSBC Private Bank, and said at the time it would continue to strengthen it.
The UK private bank set up its private office operation in 2005 to cater specifically for UHNW individuals, with an emphasis on dealing with the specific needs of this client segment, such as complicated investment, wealth structuring and financial planning requirements; it has since gone on to accumulate some £3.7 billion (around $5.9 billion) in assets.
