Close Brothers Asset Management has appointed Brian Gerry as a business development director focused on the Scottish independent financial advisory market.

Gerry was latterly an executive consultant at Zurich Assurance, having previously worked at Compliance First and Prudential Assurance. He has been in the financial services industry for over eight years, including experience with advisors in roles surrounding wealth management, tax planning and business consultancy.

"Gerry will be taking on the important role of distributing the Close proposition to the external IFA market, as well as building business-to-business IFA relationships in Scotland," David Muncaster, head of intermediary sales, said in a statement.

Last month Close Brothers saw the departure of non-executive director Jamie Cayzer-Colvin, who resigned on 22 November.

Close Brothers Asset Management has offices in London, Bristol, Manchester, Cuckfield, Leeds, Newcastle, Northwich, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
