Citigroup Names South Asia Chairman

Outside of the banking industry, Lee Lung Nien is a mostorsports enthusiast and president of Motor Sports Singapore.

Citigroup late last week appointed banking veteran Lee Lung Nien as the South Asia chairman of its private banking arm, the bank confirmed. 

Lee Lung Nien, a Singaporean, will assume his new role at Citi Private Bank from 1 September and will be based in Singapore.

He took up his current role of chief executive officer of Citi Malaysia in 2014 and has more than 30 years of experience at Citigroup working in a variety of senior leadership roles across multiple businesses, functional areas, and geographies. Prior to Malaysia, Lee Lung Nien served as the co-head of corporate sales and structuring for markets and securities services, chief operating officer for Singapore and AML business head of Asia-Pacific.

A motorsports enthusiast, he also serves as the president of Motor Sports Singapore, the governing body of the sports in the Asian city-state. (As previously reported, Singapore has had to call off the annual Formula 1 grand prix, normally held in September, because of the pandemic.)
