Citi Securities Services India Rolls Out First FPI Strategy For 2014

Citi Securities Services announced that it has registered India's first FPI strategy under the 2014 SEBI rules.

Citi Securities Services has announced the successful registration of a foreign portfolio investor strategy in India under the 2014 SEBI Regulations.

The listing is a first in the country for the year, said the firm in a statement, and marks a significant shift from the foreign institutional investor/qualified foreign investor framework (FII/QFI) to FPI. The FPI regime eases access to Indian markets and allows a wide variety of previously ineligible investors to participate locally.

"The inherent attractiveness of the Indian markets has kept India as a focal point of our securities business and we are pleased to roll out this new framework for our global clients," said Aashish Mishra, head of securities services for Citi in India.

Citi Securities Services, a division of Citi's institutional clients group, offers securities and fund services to multinational corporations, financial institutions and public sector organisations worldwide.
