Cdn megabank hauls in AIM Trimark's tax watchdog

National Post columnist Golombek to counsel CIBC's private-client
advisors. The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) has hired
Jamie Golombek, formerly head of tax and estate planning at AIM
Trimark Investments.
Golombek is best known as a personal-tax columnist for the
National Post, a Toronto-based mass-circulation daily.

"Jamie will work closely with advisors [with] CIBC Private Wealth
Management (PWM), Wood Gundy, Imperial Service" and other sales
channels "to support their high-net-worth clients and deliver
integrated financial planning," says CIBC's executive v.p. Victor
Dodig.
Wood Gundy is Toronto-based CIBC's principal retail brokerage.
CIBC Imperial Service is its retail-bank-based brokerage.
When he starts in the middle of July 2008, Golombek will report
to CIBC PWM head Gary Whitfield.
Golombek has been with AIM Trimark for the past 12 years. Last
week, the Toronto-based fund manager said it was disappointed to
see Golombek go, but that the move represented "a significant
opportunity for [him] to expand his skill sets within a new
role." The firm added that Doug Carroll will take over as the
firm's resident expert on tax and estate planning.
Golombek will continue to write for the National Post and
