Calamos Adds Investment Veterans To Board

Nasdaq-listed
Calamos Asset Management has added Keith Schappert and
William Shiebler as independent board members, effective August
22, 2012.
Schappert and Shiebler, who both join the audit, compensation and nominating and corporate governance committees, have strong backgrounds in the investment management world.
Schappert spent just under three decades at JP Morgan Investment Management, eventually taking over the role of president and chief executive of that business. In 2001 he became president and CEO of Federated Investment Advisory Companies, later moving to Credit Suisse as regional head of the Americas for asset management. He has owned his own consulting firm since 2008.
Shiebler was CEO for the Americas for Deutsche Asset Management up until his retirement in 2007. Previous roles included senior managing director of Putnam Investments and president and CEO of Putnam Mutual Funds. He was also at Dean Witter Reynolds for 12 years.
In related news, last week Calamos appointed Gary Black as global co-chief investment officer, also acquiring his firm, Black Capital.
Black replaced Nick Calamos, who is stepping back from his day-to-day role at the business while remaining on its board of directors, the firm said. Black works alongside John Calamos, chairman, CEO and global co-chief investment officer.
