Boston Private Hires Senior State Street ETF Man

Boston Private Bank & Trust Company, which this week announced rises in revenues and income, has appointed Thomas Anderson as senior vice president and chief investment officer.

Anderson latterly worked at State Street Global Advisors, where he was vice president, global head of ETF strategy and research. SSGA’s exchange-traded range encompasses some $250 billion in assets.

He joins the investment management and trust team at Boston Private, charged with researching strategic investment opportunities for both individual and institutional clients. It is not clear if he replaces anyone in this role or if it is a newly-created position; the bank was not available at the time of publication.

Earlier this week the Boston-based firm reported that revenues rose 11 per cent year-over-year, to $78.3 million, boosted by growth in fees at its wealth management and private banking businesses. Net income also rose, hitting $14.5 million compared to $1.1 million for the same quarter 2010.
