Boston Multi Family Office Makes C-Suite Changes, Eyes Growth

The Isle of Man-based organisation says it is positioning for more growth. Notably, it has created a role of group director for mergers and acquisitions.

Boston Multi Family Office, which is based in the Isle of Man with offices in Malta, has made a clutch of C-suite appointments.

Nick Gilbert, who is joining as chief financial officer, will lead all financial operations in the firm’s offices. A chartered accountant and a fellow at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Gilbert has more than 20 years’ experience working across many different industries.

Stephen Wilson will become the new chief operating officer and will join the group board and the board of Boston Limited. Wilson, who joined the firm three years ago, has been promoted from head of group finance.

Alex McNee – previously COO – along with chief executive Katherine Ellis, led the management buyout of Boston in 2019. McNee will take on the newly-created role of group director, mergers and acquisitions. Having already managed the acquisition of IQE in 2020, he will focus his time on sourcing, executing and integrating strategic acquisitions for the business, the firm said.

Boston also appointed a new chairman, Richard Grainger. Grainger has spent 30 years in corporate finance since qualifying as an accountant with PwC. He was formerly CEO of Close Brothers Corporate Finance and has chaired more than 10 businesses.

“We are delighted to announce these changes to our senior management team and we are excited to be working together to lead the Boston business forward to the next stage in its growth plan,” Ellis said. “In particular, the creation of the group director, mergers and acquisition role demonstrates the great progress that has been made to date and the opportunities we believe exist for Boston over the coming years. Alex has done a fantastic job with previous acquisitions and he is a natural leader for this role.”
