Baron Capital Makes Senior Hires

New York-headquartered Baron Capital, a growth equity investment firm, names new chief technology officer, head of strategic partnerships, and head of distribution strategy, as the firm expands its leadership team.

Baron Capital has made three senior appointments: Jake Lilie as chief technology officer; Eleena Melamed as head of strategic partnerships; and Gaby Vogel as head of distribution strategy.

These hires reflect Baron Capital’s investment in senior leadership as the firm scales its business and strengthens its long-term positioning. The appointments follow a series of recent leadership advancements including the expanded roles of Katya Rosenblatt as global head of distribution and business development and James Stone as head of product development.

Lilie will be leading the firm’s digital strategy – advancing Baron Capital’s technology footprint to serve both the firm’s investment professionals and client-facing teams more effectively, the firm said in a statement. With over two decades of experience in technology and information security management, including his most recent role as chief information officer at Alger, Lilie brings a track record of delivering technology that enhances performance and client outcomes.

Melamed will lead the expansion of the firm’s investment strategies into alternative products and channels. She is joining from Baron Capital with 19 years of experience in alternatives, having most recently served as a partner at Carlyle, where she was a member of the firm’s operating committee. She held several positions, including head of strategic operations, global chief operating officer (COO) of investor relations and head of client strategy; she also led the firm’s retail insurance efforts.

Vogel will focus on enhancing the firm's distribution approach to support long-term growth and provide a better service for clients and partners. She has spent the last 13 years in various distribution leadership roles, most recently as a senior vice president of sales strategy and business management for the Americas at Lazard Asset Management.

“At Baron Capital, we believe investing in people is just as important as investing in businesses. Jake, Eleena and Gaby’s expertise will play a critical role as we continue to scale our business and serve clients around the world,” Ron Baron, founder and CEO of Baron Capital, said. “Alongside recent leadership moves with Katya Rosenblatt and James Stone, these appointments strengthen our foundation for future growth.”

Baron Capital, which was founded in 1982, has $44.2 billion in assets under management across 20 strategies.
