Barclays Wealth Names Africa Offshore MD, Market Head

Barclays Wealth has appointed Philippe Hofer - formerly of UBS - as managing director and market head of Africa offshore within its international private bank for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Hofer will be based in Geneva and will report to market manager Nomkhita Nqweni and Patick Ramsey, head of Barclays Wealth's Swiss branch.
In addition, Hofer will work alongside local sales managers and front-office heads based in Geneva, Dubai and London. He will manage the international private banking Africa team while concentrating on meeting growth objectives for Africa offshore, the firm said.
Previously, Hofer worked at UBS for 23 years, holding a number of roles, including market head for Africa and Turkey.
In other recent developments, Barclays Wealth appointed former UBS senior manager Julian Wantling as head of global foreign exchange last week.
The same week, it was announced that the firm had expanded the network of its wealth advisory arm with a new office in Monaco.
