Bank Of Hawaii Taps Japanese Clientele With Partnership

The Pacific bank says the partnership enables it to serve Japanese clients.

Japanese clients entering Hawaii are being offered financial services thanks for a partnership from Bank of Hawaii and SMBC Trust Bank in Japan.

Under the agreement, the firms will offer clients access to Bank of Hawaii’s Japanese-speaking private banking staff and to its trust and real estate specialists. Additional benefits of the agreement will include discounted wire transfer services between the two banks, seminar offerings and development of other products and services. SMBC Trust Bank will assist Bank of Hawaii private bank clients seeking special banking services in Japan, the businesses said in a statement this week.

SMBC Trust Bank offers trust solutions to individual and corporate clients in the areas of wealth and business succession planning in Japan. It is a subsidiary of the $1.5 trillion Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. For its part, Bank of Hawaii was created in 1897. It serves markets in Hawaii, American Samoa and West Pacific.
