The newly-appointed executive, whose remit is to bring together a number of functions under one roof, had carried out senior roles at Goldman Sachs since 1994.

Bank of New York Mellon has appointed Robin Vince as vice chair and as chief executive of its global market infrastructure operations, effective October 1. 

Vince will report to Todd Gibbons, BNY Mellon’s CEO and join the financial group’s executive committee. He will oversee the organization’s clearance and collateral management, treasury services, markets and Pershing businesses.

"By bringing these four complementary businesses together under his leadership, we are better positioned to become the central facilitator in our clients' capital markets ecosystems – across markets, asset classes and geographies,” Gibbons said.

Prior to this, Vince was chief risk officer at Goldman Sachs. He joined that US firm in 1994, carrying out leadership roles including treasurer, head of operations, head of global money markets, chief operating officer of the EMEA region and CEO of Goldman Sachs International Bank, among others. He also served on several key subsidiary boards and governance committees. Vince was named managing director in 2002 and partner in 2006.

He is a member of National Geographic Society's Hubbard Council and serves on the Board of Advisors of The Hospital for Special Surgery.
