BMO Private Bank has hired Michael Montgomery as head of national sales for its US ultra high net worth brands.

BMO Private Bank has hired Michael Montgomery as head of national sales for its US ultra high net worth brands.

Montgomery’s role covers BMO Private Bank,  Harris myCFO, CTC Consulting and Cedar Street Advisors.

BMO Financial Group completed the purchase of CTC Consulting, a registered investment advisory firm in Portland, OR, last June, and merged the business with Harris MyCFO. At the time, CTC had around $24 billion in assets under advisement.

Montgomery joins the firm from Northern Trust, where he was managing director of wealth advisory services in Dallas, TX. He has also previously worked at Harris MyCFO, having been managing director of the firm’s Arizona office before joining Northern Trust.

In his new post he will be based in the Kierland office in Arizona.

“Michael brings an extensive knowledge of the complex issues that confront the wealthiest families in our country,” said John Benevides, president, Harris myCFO.

“His experience and knowledge of families will be a tremendous asset as he leads our national client development efforts to provide comprehensive advice and counsel to families of significant wealth,” he added.

In other significant wealth management hires this week, Northern Trust yesterday also made a senior appointment to its wealth team, naming W Brett Rees as head of wealth management for the mid-Atlantic region.

He succeeds Joanie Stringer, who is relocating to Miami, FL, to serve as a senior wealth strategist focused on business development.

Rees will be based in Washington, DC, with oversight responsibilities for the firm’s business spanning Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware. He has been at Northern Trust for the past six years.
