Appleby Makes More Promotions In Cayman Islands

The Cayman office of the offshore law firm Appleby has promoted Anna-Lise Wisdom and Benjamin Woolf to counsel, and Katie Pearson and Christian Victory to senior associates.
Wisdom, who joined Appleby in 2007, is a member of the corporate and commercial practice group. She regularly advises lenders in a wide variety of finance transactions, including subscription finance. Her practice also extends to capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring, with particular experience in the listing of equity and debt securities on the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange. Wisdom also assists with licensing and regulatory issues relating to regulated financial institutions in the Cayman Islands.
Woolf joined Appleby in 2011 from onshore law firm Clifford Chance in London, and is a member of the corporate and commercial practice group. He works primarily on securitization, representing issuers and underwriters in both public and private offerings of securities backed by a variety of asset classes, CLOs, M&A, asset finance, and subscription finance.
Pearson joined Appleby in 2009 and is a member of the litigation and insolvency practice group. She specializes in international commercial litigation and insolvency with a particular emphasis on shareholders’ disputes, hedge fund disputes, company winding-up, fraud and asset recovery and trust litigation. She has experience of obtaining and defending emergency injunctive relief aimed at the preservation of assets, including freezing injunctions and receiver appointments.
Victory joined Appleby’s British Virgin Islands office in 2009 before transferring to Cayman in 2010. He is a member of the firm’s corporate and commercial practice group and focuses on funds and investment services, including the formation, establishment and listing of mutual funds and hedge funds, and the formation of stand-alone vehicles, including segregated portfolio companies and limited partnerships. He also has experience in banking and finance, general lending, debt issuance and general aspects of banking and finance and corporate and commercial law.
In other developments, earlier this month Appleby appointed investment funds specialists Jonathan Bernstein and Andrew Harding to its funds and investment services team.
