AXA UK, part of the French-listed AXA group, has appointed Ian Brimecome as chairman of its board.

Brimecome, with more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, was appointed to the AXA UK board as a non-executive director in March 2007. He serves on a number of other company boards, including as chairman of Equitable Life Assurance Society, Kiln Group and Delphin Financial Group, among others.

Anthony Hamilton, who has been chairman of AXA UK since September 2000, is retiring from the firm’s board. Hamilton has worked with the AXA Group for twenty years in a variety of senior non-executive positions and will shortly be retiring from the board of AXA SA in France, where he serves as chairman of the audit committee.
