ASIC Bans Ex-ANZ Advisor

Australia’s financial watchdog has handed out another ban as part of its wealth management project.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has banned former ANZ Financial Planning advisor Andrew TambyRajah from providing financial services for five years.
ASIC found that TambyRajah engaged in “misleading and deceptive conduct” by creating false documents and falsely amending documents on client files. Among other actions, he created false investor profile forms for two clients by photocopying forms they had signed in previous years and changing the dates.
TambyRajah, based in Sydney, worked at ANZ Financial Planning between January 2006 and July 2014.
“Financial advisers are important gatekeepers who must act honestly to increase broader public confidence in the financial services industry,” said deputy chairman, Peter Kell, in a statement.
“This banning should serve as a deterrent to any financial adviser tempted to act dishonestly.”
