George Kinder is a prominent figure in what he calls the Life Planning approach that extends the concept of fiduciary responsibility beyond its customary boundaries.

Prominent financial planning figure George Kinder (pictured) is leaving Massachusetts in the US to build a startup in the UK so that he can spread his “Life Planning” approach to fiduciary responsibility.

The UK Home Office has awarded Kinder an Innovator Founder Visa. He intends to use his time in the UK to integrate “Life Planning” principles into a variety of organizations, he said in a note on his Linkedin page. He is leading a training course, from September 15 to 20, in Cornwall, in the UK's southwest.

“For decades, Life Planning has helped individuals discover and live their most authentic lives,” Kinder. “Now, it’s time we bring that same inspiration into our organizations – starting with financial firms and B Corps but extending to every corner of industry.”

Kinder’s work expands the concept of fiduciary responsibility beyond client service. He advocates for a “Fiduciary In All Things approach” – one that begins with serving clients’ highest aspirations, extends to organizational culture and governance, and culminates in a broader duty to humanity.

"The UK – with its progressive stance on corporate responsibility and the highest number of B Corporations globally – is the ideal launching pad for this movement," Kinder said.

At the NextGen Planners annual conference in July, held in Manchester, England, the Kinder Institute is expected to curate one of the stages and Kinder will deliver a keynote, his statement added.
